Are there any stats available on how many people play console games in the U.S.?
I don't mean gamers who use handhelds (portables) such as PSP or
Nintendo DS. I mean real game consoles such as PS, Xbox, Xbox 360,
Gamecube, etc.
ThanksHello, seeking6236-ga!
I was unable to find actual numbers. Do these percentage figures serve
as an answer to your question?
"Market researcher David Cole, who runs the firm DFC Intelligence,
says his best estimate is that 40 percent of U.S. households own a
working video-game console. Michael Pachter, an analyst for Wedbush
Morgan Securities, estimates that 52 percent of households own
consoles. Neither Cole nor Pachter is counting handheld devices, such
as Nintendo's Game Boy or Sony's PlayStation Portable."

umiatPerhaps these figures for console games will also help:
"Consider the following demographics: Of 100 million video game
consoles in u.s. households (according to The NPD Group), the largest
audience segment is 18- to 34-year-olds, at 40 percent of the market,
followed by 35-plus and 13- to 17-year-olds, both at 18 percent.
Perhaps the most surprising statistic is that while 82 percent of
games are bought by or for men, the total console gaming audience is
actually 43 percent female and 57 percent male."
