January 6th, 2009 XBMC Total Failure F partition gone!
XBMC 2.0.0 was playing an mp3 and stopped mid song with the visualization freezing. I restarted and got
XBMC fatal error, cant find q:userdata/sources line 0
starting ftp etc.
I got in touch with the box via ftp. There is no F partition visible. As I remember the XBMC was all in F. Strangely some of it seems to be in q: but thats not how I remember it. I am specially worried about the 85g of music that I can't find. I don't want to load that lot again!
I suppose all is not lost as XBMC still starts in a limited way and it was in the apps folder in F.
I am not messing with it until i find out if any one else has had this problem.
I will post more info as I poke around

I will get a boot disc and look at the drive.
Afaik its like a "virtual" drive, mapped to the contents of your XBMC folder, i guess this is to give it a universal path, so the user can chuck it wherever they like, without having to mess about with settings.
Boot to some other dash, such as evo-x and ftp in a fresh XBMC and you should be good to go, i'd think.
Shorty
P.S - if you wanna poke around, i believe the error is the file in f:appsxbmcuserdatasources.xml on the first line of text (Corrupted or missing file perhaps)
Booting from dvd showed every thing there. I replaced sources.xml and keymap.xml and all appears well.
What a relief!
My system has xbmc in f/apps/xbmc. The box uses the
Option 1 - Using the Team XBMC Shortcut.xbe (Recommended)
to jump in as a dashboard. But it would seem that that all works. Its just that xbmc cant find q:userdata/sources. But really there is no q:
I will research this sources.xml
