January 5th, 2009 LastFM & keymap

  • Is it possible to assign a universal remote code to the keymap in XBMC that would automatically open a particular tag in LastFM?

    For example, I would like to assign a remote code to select the "Listen to tag alternative LastFM radio". When I click on this tag manually, it says:

    Opening
    lastfm://globaltags/alternative

    I am wanting to assign a bunch of codes to various music styles in LastFM so I don't have to manually go through the tag lists. I've done this with music on my NAS but have not been successful with LastFM.

  • You should be able to do it the same way:

    ActivateWindow(MyMusicFiles,lastfm://globaltags/alternative)

    Unfortunately, when I use that syntax I only get to the music page with no music folders or sources shown (just a blank blue space next to the column of submenu options [View: Icons, Sort by: Name, etc.] and a green bar at the bottom when using MediaCenter skin; similar results with PMIII). The folders and sources re-appear when I click sort by size and then select the root folder.

    When selecting LastFM manually, there is a bit of a lag (1-2 secs) between making a selection and seeing the list of tags (while LastFM searches the internet site, I presume). Might this be the problem? If so, anyway around it?

    FYI, I have listed a portion of my keymap here (located in Global section). I tried adding XBMC to the beginning of the last keymap but got the same result:


    XBMC.ActivateWindow(MyMusic,master music)
    XBMC.ActivateWindow(MyPictures,Master Photos)
    ActivateWindow(MyMusicFiles,lastfm://globaltags/alternative)
