January 5th, 2009 Xboxes do not see each other

  • I have the IP adress of one as 192.168.1.103 and the other as 192.168.1.106.

I can ftp into both boxes from linux and windows but the xboxes cannot ftp to each other.

I have also tried xbox autodection but receive no indication that either box dectects the other.

  • you don't give much info to go by. "cannot ftp to each other" doesn't tell us what is happening when you are doing whatever it is you are doing. You also do not give any info about exactly how you're trying to do that, how your network is setup, or what build(s) of XBMC you're running.

  • Sorry.

I am trying to stream 1 xbox to another.

I am using xbmc pre-2.1 for both compiled on 10/21/07.

    Both xboxes are v1.4

My network is going through a linksys router. I have connected to it two computers (windows and Debian) and two xboxes. They are all going through a wired network line (no wireless.)

Both computers can ftp into both xboxes and both xboxes can connect to the windows computers using the samba protocol.

I would like to be able for the xbox in my room to stream all the files from my xbox in my living room.

  • with only two Xboxes on the same system, you SHOULD be able to use the auto-detection feature built into XBMC. There was a bug in that feature on networks where more than 2 Xboxes running XBMC were online, but it has since been fixed.

Do you have auto-detect turned on on both systems? Do both systems have different names?
What happens when you try to create a Source in the Files section which points to the FTP server in one box from the other?
