January 6th, 2009 How to solve installation problem in my laptop?

  • whenever I am trying to install Winxp(SP2) I am getting this --

    "File ntfs.sys caused an unexpected error (32768) at line 5274 in d:srv03rtmbasebootsetupsetup.c

    press any key to continue."

    After pressing key a footage coming like--

    "setup failed.Press any key to restart your computer."

    I have also tried to install Windows2003 server, but faced the same problem.
    Previously I had installed both the Windows succesfully in the same system.
    Can anyone please help me to solve the problem?

  • 1)it maybe bad sectors ,download HDD Regenerator t& run scan disk to eliminate bad sectors

    2)download a fresh copy of sp2 from microsoft website,and install it ,cd get corrupted easily

    3) if the same error appears your hdd is defective
    run a diganotistic test of ur hdd from the company website
    if its under warranty get it replaced


  • Check your OS CD if it has some scratches or it is damaged or is dirty. These lead to errors. Try cleaning it !


  • just a question, did you make sure that your disk was clean? I got pretty much the same error message when installing xp sp 2 from cd. Make sure the disk is clean and smudge free (as clean as humanly possible) if that doesn't work, maybe have someone download it and burn it to cd or thumb drive.


  • It may be due to bad sectors in the hard drive.

    Did you try booting in safe modes?

    call the technical support center for lenovo and check out if there are tests to see if the hard drive is working fine in your computer.
