He seems to be more comfortable with it like that. It doesn't seem to slow him down, but it just looks a little odd. He is ambidextrous, but favors his left hand with writing. I know some left-handed people turn their papers sideways to write, but he does this when reading.don't worry i prefer to write with my paper upside down and it challenges the brain. i can write with both hand and i can read sideways too, your son is fine maybe this is an opportunity to be unique!
-laura:)dont worry about him.
he will either grow out of it of keep doing it.
i read with the book to the side and also wrote with my paper to the side and still do it may look odd but it is comfy.
it wont slow him down or mean his less clever its just a strange habbit. OMG, that is too cute. However, since he is 8, he should know how to hold the book upright. I wouldnt worry, just show him the right way and maybe he will get it. I was a clown at 8 and I did that just to be corrected.i am ambidextrous, and i struggle to write with my paper straight, i have to turn it on its side to write comfortably. although unlike him i favour my right hand when i write. i also don't read straight on, but i don't read sideways like your son. i was asked quite a lot in primary school why i had everything at an angle whilst i worked and i had no answer other than its easier for me. Therefore if he is comfortable most when reading sideways, then allow him to. Like i say, i cant write with my paper straight to save my life, its completely on its side.well it mght be that his eyes where born messed up and the doctor couldnt see it. or he is faking reading and just mothing it to make it look like he is reading.if the second one is you got a smart oneI don't think this is something serious, he's probably just more comfortable in this position. There are tons of girls in my class who turn books and stuff sideways to read and write, and they seem to be fine! :) But if you're worried you can just ask him why he's doing it and try and correct it. He'll probably grow out of it...
Hope this helps! :)
