January 8th, 2009 Solutions to Male Reconstruction ( Urologic Surgery)

  • I am a regular user of Google Researchers, have had answers superbly answered, and pay honest and fair rates. I am specifically searching for a researcher in Health ( Surgery)---the topic will be penile enlargement by surgery with an emphasis on reconstruction. Nost of the U.S. surgeons in this practice are zealous physicians who see an opportunity to capitalize on men's ego or in my case, severe wounds in the genitalia area due to Dr. X. I have followed Dr. E. Austoni's trial work at the University of Milan, and am impressed with his approach, but I have failed to contact him by E-Mail in order to discover my cchances as a patient under his care. His idea: blood vessel grafting, and if he accepts candidates, I would like to apply. I have yet to find a reputable and understanding physician that can repair all the damage initiated by their procedures, particularly a infectious hematoma, in the United States. And if one physician does idicate that they can aassist me, I find the cost exorbitant, particularly in New York ($22,000). Technique and cost are critical issues for me, as I am a disabled vet living on a fixed income. If I thought Dr. Austoni would accept me as a "trial" patient, I would be on a flight to Milan today. There are true and caring physicians, but most have lost their innate reasons for becoming a doctor---Hippocratic Oath. Any researcher capable of handling this very complicated topic would be appreciated and paid max-fee. I am a 100% service-connected disabled veteran.. I will go forward with this topic, if there is a top-notch Google researcher in this unique and new field of urology/plastic surgery, I would pay the $200.00 fee provided we make new progress, beyond my knowledge. I know there are some great uroogic surgeons who could help, but they don't advertise and one needs a contact to find the best aat this type of work. There is no time limit for this difficult research, but it is extremely important to me. area filled with greed, poor results, and almost litigious-proof.

  • Hello, I was just wondering what the specific question was. Are you interested in a general overview of the various penile enlargement surgeries? I would be happy to research to pros/cons/complications of the surgical techniques available today. You made mentioned that you required an answer "beyond your knowledge". So that my research does not overlap, what are the areas and information that you are already familiar with? Thanks, Kevin, M.D.

  • To: Kevin, M.D. I apologize for the aparent rambling within the context of my question. I am aware of the various techniques used in enlargement. Some physicians believe fat transfer is acceptable, while other physicians think that dermal grafting tissue is the the correct methodology. My issue is the severe damage that resulted from an infection, resulting in a series of hematomas that induced scarring in or near the pubic cavity that the shaft retracted into the cavity and I now have, what you would call a micropenis. This was the diagnoses of another urologist who evidenced the damage and scar tissue. Regardless of whom you analyze over the NET, they all have one common objective: MAKE MONEY. What I am desperately searching for is: 1. A urologist/plstic surgeon who does not advertise his ability to make you into a huge superstud ( nonsense) but I am searching for a serious professional who can repair the damage and restore my sense of masculinity. 2. When I was referring to " beyond the normal practice of genitalia repair", I was referring to Dr. E. Austoni---University og Milan, who along with two colleagues, sutured two sapheneous vein grafts into the penile shaft with excellent results. Dr Austoni is also recognized as a superb trauma reconstruction neurosurgeon. The surgeries and results were I guess some clarification on my situation is pertinent: 1. Great surgeons don't need to advertise their abilities---but then again, I cannot locate a dedicated and sincere surgeon to assist me with a real serious problem, caused by another $$ surgeon. 2. If there were any trial testing being done in the United States, I certainly would advance myself as a candidate for micropenis repair. I know that East Virginia Medical School initiates trial testing in genitalia repair using both Urologist ( Dr. Jordan) and the Chief of Surgery (David Gilbert). I know that the existing problem precludes intercourse, yet I wish to remarry in the coming year. However, I do not have the funds necessary to see a great physician who could help me. Seciond, I would participate in any trials that were related to the repair of a traumatized penis. My personal health coverage is limited to Medicare,so I cannot seem to find a solution to a very complex problem. I hope that assists you in clarifying my problem--of course, any dditional information you need, I will be glad to provide. PERSONAL: Prior to the scar revision on my shaft, my length= flaccid 3 1/2 inchesand in the Erect State 5 1/2 inches. Average. Now L= 1 inch flaccid and erect, maybe 3 inches. Hope the above helps. Thank you.

  • Hello, This question falls outside my area of expertise, so I'll open it up to other Researchers who are interested. To find another urologist for a second opinion here is a helpful site: http://www.urologyhealth.org/find_urologist/ Thanks, Kevin, M.D.

  • Dear automata-ga, I’m taking my try to help you find the information that you need. You said that you have failed to make contact by email with Dr. Austoni. However, I’ve found two email addresses for Dr. Edoardo Austoni, and sent him a message –written in Italian to facilitate the understanding- describing briefly what your interest is, and asking him how could you make contact with him. It would probably take a few days to receive an answer, if there were any, and in the meantime I’ll try to find contact information for medical resources of an equivalent level of academic seriousness. Please confirm if the approach I’m following corresponds to what you are expecting. Thank you very much. Regards, Guillermo

  • Hello, Automata-ga I have interesting news for you. I’ve received an answer from Dr. Edoardo Austoni’s secretary. I’ll transcribe the messages exchange in Italian with its translation to English. Not being an Italian native speaker, I might have made a few grammar mistakes, not affecting the comprehension though. My first email: “Caro Dott. Translation: “Dear Dr. Austoni, “I’m a researcher for Google Answers, an online information service, and right now I’m working for a customer who is concerned about a serious injury in his genitalia, and being aware of your work, he’s interested in making contact with you, in order to know what are the chances that your techniques were appropriated to his problem, and the possibility that he were treated under your care. He’s also interested in a trial treatment. “If you agree, please tell me how could this person get in touch with you.” Answer: “Egregio sig. Guillermo, “Sarebbe opportuno che il suo cliente fissasse un appuntamento presso lo studio del Prof. Austoni, per una visita e per rispondere alle sue domande e perplessit .” Translation: “Dear Mr. Guillermo, It would be appropriate that your client made an appointment to visit Prof. Austoni at his office, so you’ll get the answers to your questions and doubts.” Translation: “First of all, thank you for your prompt response. In my previous message I didn’t mention that my customer does not live in Italy but the United States of America. Besides, his economic resources are limited. Therefore, he would travel to Milan after Prof. Austoni had seen the information about my customer’s case and had established the chances of being treated, and the economic costs had been considered as well. I assume that I can suggest my customer to send his clinical records to the address that you provided, and that Prof. Austoni would answer him back.” Apart from that, during these days I’ve been searching the web for other innovative and serious approaches to genitalia repair. I have found some that seem to be serious, but maybe not innovative enough, or in your words, probably not “beyond your knowledge”. I didn’t have the time to review all of the information available on the net (I found more than 1000 websites related to the subject), but most of what I have reviewed so far –among those categorized as “serious”- typically referred to techniques you’re already aware of. The other critical issue that you mentioned is cost. It’s very unlikely that the cost of medical procedures were published on the Internet, and your case, being as atypical as your description suggests, would probably need a direct dialog between you and the physician. Therefore, it’s very unlikely that I or any other researcher could offer you information on what would be the cost of any medical solution to your problem before you made contact with the physicians themselves. That said, what I can offer to you as an answer is all contact information for Dr. E. Austoni, including office telephone numbers, street address, email, and a contact already initiated with his secretary, and all the information about other serious alternatives that I could have gathered by the end of the week. Please let me know whether you find this satisfactory or not. Thank you. Regards, Guillermo

  • Dear Automata-ga, While I would have preferred to read your thoughts about my request for clarification before posting an answer, I’ve decided to do it now because tomorrow I’m going out of town due to another job for at least one week, and will not be able to work on this during that time, and that will be too close to the question’s expiration date. My question to you aimed to establish a consensus with you about what would be a satisfactory answer to your question. However, if your expectations were not fulfilled with my answer, you can always: 1.- Ask me for clarifications and complementary information. 2.- If not even the additional information made the answer satisfactory, a request for refund is always an option. First of all, I’ll provide you with what might be the most significant information for you. That is Dr. Edoardo Austoni’s business contact information: Information provided by Dr. Austoni’s secretary Maurizia D'Amore, by email. Casa di Cura Privata del Policlinico Via Dezza, 48 Milano Italia tel. +39 (0) 2 48593400 edoardoaustoni@oh-fbf.it Information taken from Dr. Austoni’s profile at the Universit degli Studi di Milano ( http://www.unimi.it/chiedove/persona.idc?matricola=12665 ) Office Telephone: +39 02 85994798 Alternative telephone: 02 85994896 Fax: +39 02 85994551 E-Mail: edoardo.austoni@unimi.it Professore Straordinario Settore MED/24 - Urologia Facolta' di Medicina e Chirurgia http://www.unimi.it/ateneo/istit/med/urologia/ Istituto di Urolog a I haven’t received an answer to my second email yet, and I’ll post it here as a clarification as soon as I get it. From now on I recommend further contact to be made directly by yourself. However, if you want my help to write a message in Italian, you may count on me –anyway, consider that my skills in that language are enough for short and relatively easy texts as the ones I’ve posted above. If you decide to send your clinical record to Dr. Austoni, may I suggest you to get a professional translator with specific medical knowledge –or else ask his secretary if he prefers the original in English what is, in my opinion, more likely. The second part of my answer is about other alternatives. I’ll give you the URLs and some other contact information of a few websites, that I believe might be among the most relevant ones. You may find this a bit scarce, but believe me that the easy job for me would have to give you tens of websites. Honestly, I didn’t have the time to review the +1000 websites I’d found, but I did review about two hundred, and most of my work was invested in sweeping away what is not here. From what I found among the serious offer, the following seems to be the more closely related to your needs: The Center for Urethral and Male Genitalia and Reconstructive Surgery ( http://www.urethralcenter.org/ ) is an organization specialized in the subject, based in Italy. Via Guido Monaco, 92 - 52100 Arezzo (Italy) Phone: 0039.0575.353892 - fax: 0039.0575.27056 Secretary's Office: phone 0039.0575.403412 - fax 0039.0575.298148 Morristown Urology Associates ( http://www.morristownurology.com/ ). This website has a clinical trial section ( http://www.morristownurology.com/clinicaltrials.shtml ). "To arrange an appointment with one of our physicians at Morristown Urology Associates, to reach our office manager Diane Morros, to reach our billing/insurance liaison, Jackie McNamara, or to ask a question about our practice please call us at: 973-539-1050" Morristown Urology Associates Main Office: 261 James St. Suite 1A Morristown, NJ 07960 Phone: 973.539.1050 Carol Simon Cancer Center at Morristown Memorial Hospital 100 Madison Ave. Morristown, NJ 07960 Glickman Urological Institute http://www.clevelandclinic.org/urology/patients/rsurgery.htm Cleveland Clinic Foundation Building A - The Crile Building 2049 E. 100th Street Main Campus 216/444-5600 800/223-2273, ext. 45600 Cornell University – Department of Urology http://www.cornellurology.com/cornell/conditions.shtml There is a section for clinical trials, although there was no surgical trial at the moment I reviewed it. “To schedule an appointment with one of our physicians for a consultation or medical advice, please contact our main number at (212) 746-5566” Other options you may want to consider are clinical trials search engines online. I came across with these three: http://www.veritasmedicine.com http://www.centerwatch.com/studies/listing.htm http://clinicaltrials.gov/ct/gui/c/r Although I haven’t found a trial related to your needs at the moment of my review, I think this is a good resource to consult from time to time, given that new trials are being implemented constantly. This seems to be the best that I could find in the time invested. My search strategies: “e austoni”; “edoardo austoni”; “male genitalia”; “reconstructive surgery”. As I told you above, please feel free to ask for any clarification you may need, including widening the information. Thank you. Guillermo
